There are five ports: a 24/40
ground-glass joint, two #7 Ace-Threds, and two 14/20 ground-glass joints. The
central 24/40 ground glass joint supports the cylindrical Working Electrode
(your corrosion sample) in the Sample Holder. The Reference Electrode Bridge
Tube and the Counter Electrode and the Bubbler are all mounted in the
Ace-Threds, which allow them to be adjusted vertically to accommodate a wide
range of sample volumes. The vertical adjustment is also handy to make sure
your Reference Electrode Bridge Tube is placed close to the surface of your
corrosion sample. The Bubbler is contained in the 14/20 joint and has one
position for deaeration and another for blanketing. The standard Counter
Electrode is a graphite rod. It is also possible to use a platinum counter
electrode. A bridge tube containing a platinum counter electrode is available
(Part No. 990-194) to prevent products from the counter electrode from
contacting products from the working electrode. We included an additional
14/20 port for a thermometer or other accessory.

This
standard 125 mL cell features three 14/20 ground glass necks and two Ace #7
screw-thread openings. The ground glass necks can be used to mount reference and
auxiliary and non-rotating working electrodes.
A complete set of Teflon
stoppers for sealing the cell is included. Replacement stoppers are also
available separately.
Deaeration of the cell contents can be accomplished
using the two Ace #7 screw-thread connections to mount gas inlet/outlet lines.
Alternately, small diameter electrodes may be mounted using one or both
screw-threads.

Dr. Bob's Cell is an
electrochemical cell kit designed for flexibility and convenience. It's built
to handle sample volumes from 1-30
ml. It's
available in both (1) an unjacketed model and (2) a jacketed version to control
the temperature of the electrochemical experiment.
The pear-shaped flask is the
key to handling low volumes. There are five ports: two 14/20 ground-glass
joints and three #7 Ace-Threds. The Working Electrode, the Reference Electrode
Bridge Tube, the Counter Electrode Bridge Tube, and the Bubbler are all
contained in the Ace-Threds, which allow them to be adjusted vertically to
accommodate a wide range of sample volumes. The Bubbler has one position for
deaeration and another for blanketing. The Counter Electrode is a Platinum wire
that is contained in a bridge tube isolated from the sample electrolyte with a
Vycor fit. This arrangement prevents products from the counter electrode
contacting products from the working electrode.

If you are sample-limited, a
special MicroVolume Voltammetry Cell is available
for sample volumes as
small as 50 μL.
The VC-2 cell shown is modified to include a
glass vessel with a salt bridge,
in the position normally occupied by the
voltammetry working electrode.
The small volume sample is placed in this
glass vessel and a small (MCPE) carbon
paste working electrode is lowered
into the vessel.
The vessel is then placed in a larger vial, together
with the reference and
auxiliary electrodes.
The package includes
the carbon paste electrode, carbon paste, the reference and
auxiliary
electrodes, as well as both glass vessels.
